PTE Scoring System

PTE Academic uses a automated scoring system on a scale of 10-90. Your score reflects your English language proficiency across all skills.

Score Ranges

10-30: Basic proficiency
31-50: Moderate proficiency
51-65: Good proficiency
66-79: Very good proficiency
80-90: Expert proficiency

Section Scores

You receive individual scores for Speaking, Writing, Reading, and Listening, plus an overall score.

University Requirements

Most universities require 50-65 for undergraduate and 65-79 for postgraduate programs.

Score Improvement

Focus on your weakest sections first. Regular practice and targeted improvement can increase your score by 10-15 points.

Score Validity

PTE scores are valid for two years from the test date. Plan your academic applications accordingly.
